African Wedding Day 2 – Lagos, Nigeria

The wedding of Azie Akhigbe & Walé Akinde took place over a few days. The formal introduction of the families occurred sometime before I arrived in Lagos. And February will bring one more event celebrating the marriage and a special birthday party for Azie.

African Wedding Day 1 – Lagos, Nigeria

Thanksgiving is my favorite of all holidays.  Normally I wouldn’t miss it for anything.  But when I got a call from my friend Olivier Kpognon inviting me to be a part of an elite team to photograph a 2-day high profile African wedding in Lagos Nigeria, how could I say no?!!

On the guestlist were 2000 people including the 36 governors of Nigeria and the Nigerian President himself.  The traditional Nigerian ceremony, known as the engagement, would take place on Thanksgiving day and the wedding itself with Catholic ceremony and reception afterward was planned for Saturday.

I was ready for a big challenge and an exciting week in West Africa.  Here are a few of my favorite images from day one of the event, the traditional engagement ceremony.

Featured on Trendsetting Wedding!

I am thrilled to share with you that Emily & Walt’s engagement session was featured on Trendsetting Wedding!  No doubt this couple is super stylish.  How cool to be known as trendsetters, too!  I’m honored to be recognized buy this discriminating wedding blog.

Thanks, Pink Cake Box

A few images of the gorgeous cake from Emily and Walt’s wedding last August were featured on the Pink Cake Box’s blog.  I got an email from Jesse at Pink Cake Box asking if I’d be ok with them using the photos.  I was thrilled, of course.  It just so happened that I was on my way out to Pennsylvania for a wedding that day and was able to hand deliver a CD of images to Jesse and Anne.  Their shop is right off Route 80 out in central NJ.  Great meeting you all and thanks for your kinds words!
