Did you see Sunday’s NY Times? Nel, Gracie and I were on page 12 of the Style section in a photo by Bill Cunningham. On June 18th we were honored guests at St. Vincent Medical Center’s Baby Ball Gala. It was so cool to be a guest at this high brow affair at Cipriani’s Wall Street. We were special guests of the hospital.
Our daughter, Gracie, was born at St Vincents on September 29, 2008. She came 12 weeks earlier than expected. So the first 12 weeks of her life were spent in the expert hands of the St Vincents Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Of course I began making photographs of her as soon as she was born. Little did we know that she’d be there for 12 full weeks. Well by the time she was ready to come home I had made over 3000 photographs.
As a humble Thank You to the hospital and to the NICU staff, I put together a book of images entitled “84 Days at St Vincents” documenting Gracie’s journey from 2 pounds 2 ounces at birth to 6 pounds 11 ounces at discharge. We sent a copy of the book to CEO Henry Amaroso along with our letter of thanks. Well the book was received as an answer to thier prayers. They were in need of a great story representing the quality that they bring to the community.
We are glad to participate with St Vincents in any way we can. We are forever grateful to them for the loving care they gave all of us.
Maybe I’ll share an excerpt of the book soon. Hmmm…..
